Messenger stopped loading my chats this morning, down for anyone else?

Opened it and just got a spinning circle, no conversations at all. Wifi is fine, everything else works. Is it a wider outage or just me?

It was a wider blip earlier today, a lot of people saw the same spinner. Usual fix while it sorts itself out: force close the app, toggle airplane mode on and off, then reopen. If it is still stuck, check downdetector before you start reinstalling anything.

Had no idea about this, thanks for asking it out loud.
Careful though, this also hides your own status, which you may not want.Omar Farrell 3mo ago
Worth noting it can reset after a big update, so keep half an eye on it.Marcus Reyes 3mo ago

Clear space on the phone first, a lot of these apps misbehave when storage is nearly full.

Restarting the phone entirely did it for me when nothing else worked.

Older phone here and the permissions reset fixed it, give that a go.

Worth checking your notification settings too, they quietly reset after big updates.

Second this. Also make sure notifications are not being throttled by battery saver.Ella Meyer 3mo ago

Mine did the exact same thing for about 40 minutes then came back on its own. If yours is still dead, log in on messenger.com in a browser. If it loads there, it is the app, not your account.
