Spanbox vs Beeper

All your apps in one inbox.
Without a server in the middle.

Beeper unifies your chats by bridging them through its own infrastructure. Spanbox does it a different way: it runs the real apps on your computer, so your messages never leave your device. Not even to us.

Why people choose Spanbox

🔒

Private by architecture

To merge your chats, a bridge has to see them. Spanbox never bridges. It reads each app locally, on your device, so your conversations stay yours. We run no servers that can read your messages.

📥

More than chat

Beeper is built for messaging. Spanbox brings your email, your work tools like Slack, and your AI assistants into the same inbox as your DMs. One window for everything, not just chat.

The real apps, not a copy

Spanbox loads the actual WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack you already use, so logins, features and updates just work. There is no bridge in between to break when a service changes.

Everything you get, in one place.

Spanbox is the calm home for every conversation you have online.

Still Curious? What Else?
Final Points

Is Spanbox actually free?

Yes. You can run up to 3 apps free, forever, with no account. Pro unlocks unlimited apps and every feature for about $5 a month billed yearly, or $129 once for lifetime access.

Does Spanbox route my messages through its servers like Beeper?

No. Spanbox runs the real apps on your own machine and reads them locally. We run no servers that can see your messages. Beeper bridges yours through its infrastructure to unify them, which is the opposite approach.

Which apps can I actually add?

60+, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack, Gmail, Discord, Messenger, Instagram, Teams and the major AI assistants. If a service has a web app, Spanbox can usually run it.

Do I need a Spanbox account?

No account and no sign-up. You install the app and log into each service yourself, exactly like using it in a browser. Your sessions stay on your device.

Is Spanbox just a browser with a lot of tabs?

No. Each app runs in its own isolated space that stays signed in, and everything lands in one Unified Inbox with a command bar, per-service notifications and Do Not Disturb. Tabs cannot keep two accounts of the same app separate or give you one sorted list.

Can I run two accounts of the same app?

Yes. Two WhatsApps, three Gmails, work and personal Slack, all side by side and kept fully separate.

What about iMessage or iPhone messages?

Not today. iMessage is Beeper's specialty because it relays Apple's closed protocol through a server. Spanbox runs the web apps you already use, and iMessage does not offer one. It is on our roadmap as a Mac-only, on-device feature.

Is it really private if the basics are free?

Yes, because there is nothing to monetize. With no server in the middle, your messages never reach us to scan, sell or leak. The free tier is a real product, not a trade for your data.

More about Beeper

Does Spanbox connect to apps the way Beeper does?

No, and that is the point. Beeper bridges your chats through its servers to merge them. Spanbox runs the real apps locally, so there is no relay to trust, break, or read your conversations.

Beeper has iMessage and a mobile app. Should I still switch?

If iMessage or phone-first chat is your main need, Beeper fits that job well. Spanbox is for people who want a private, desktop-first home for all of their apps, including email, work and AI, not only chat.

Beeper is free. What am I paying Spanbox for?

The free tier covers 3 apps at no cost. Pro pays for unlimited apps and features, never for privacy, because privacy is free here by design. The real difference from Beeper is where your messages go, not the price.
