What is Telegram actually used for beyond normal chatting?

Three things people love it for: massive groups (up to 200k members), public Channels for broadcasting like a newsletter, and bots that automate stuff. It is less a private messenger and more a mix of chat, forum and broadcast platform. Just remember normal chats are not end to end encrypted.
