Anyone else weirdly nostalgic for when Instagram was just square photos and no ads?

Was scrolling today, four ads and three reels before I saw an actual friend's post, and I got hit with this wave of missing the old chronological, no-algorithm, just-your-friends'-brunch version. Am I romanticising it, or was it genuinely better back then?

Bit of both honestly. It WAS simpler and calmer, but we forget how grainy everyone's photos were and how there was nothing to actually do. Rose-tinted, but the core complaint (too many ads, not enough friends) is 100% fair.
