Discord screen share has no audio. Video works but people hear nothing. How do I fix it?

Trying to share a video with friends on Discord. They can see my screen fine but there is zero sound. Video is smooth, audio just does not transmit. Windows if that matters.

Most common fixes in order: 1) Share a specific application window, not the whole screen, Discord only reliably captures app audio when you share that app. 2) In Voice & Video settings, toggle the legacy/'latest technology' screen capture option off then on. 3) Update your audio drivers and Discord. 4) Last resort, restart Discord after plugging in your normal audio device, since it grabs the audio source at launch.

The whole-screen versus single-window thing is the answer nine times out of ten. Full-screen share often drops audio, sharing the actual app window fixes it instantly.

If it is a browser tab, share that specific browser window and make sure the tab is not muted. Discord will not capture a muted tab's sound.

Windows exclusive-mode can steal the audio too. Right-click the speaker > Sound settings > device Properties > Advanced > untick 'Allow apps to take exclusive control'.
