How do I cancel my Netflix subscription, and do I lose access straight away or keep it till the month ends?

Money's tight and I'm cutting subscriptions.
How do I actually cancel Netflix, and if I cancel mid-month do I lose it immediately or keep watching until my billing date?
Go to netflix.com (easier than the app), click your profile icon top-right > Account > under Membership hit 'Cancel Membership', then confirm. Key thing: you keep full access until the end of your current billing period, you're not cut off the second you cancel, so there's no reason to wait until the last day. Netflix doesn't do partial refunds, so cancel whenever and just watch till it lapses. If you come back within 10 months, your profiles, history and lists are all still there. If you signed up through a third party (Apple, Google Play, a phone carrier), you have to cancel through them, not Netflix.
Cancel through whoever you actually pay. If you subscribed via the App Store, Google Play or your phone bill, the Netflix site won't have a cancel button, you manage it in that platform's subscriptions instead.
You keep watching until the billing date you already paid for, no early cut-off and no partial refund. So cancel today and still use it right to the end of the cycle.
Your profiles and watch history stick around for 10 months after cancelling, so if you rejoin before then it's like you never left. Handy if you're only pausing for a bit.
If you just want to spend less without fully losing your spot, downgrading to the cheaper ad-supported plan is an option instead of a full cancel. Same account, lower bill.
