Got the notification banner, saw part of it, then opened the app and it was gone. Vanished. Is there an actual way to recover an unsent Instagram message, or do I just have to live with the mystery forever?

Someone unsent a message two seconds after sending it. Any way to see what it said?

If you still had the notification, some Android phones keep a log under Settings > Notifications > Notification history that can show the text even after it's unsent. iPhone doesn't keep that by default. Beyond that, once it's unsent on Instagram's side it's gone. Any 'app' claiming to recover unsent DMs is a data grab, steer clear.

Nothing haunts me like a message someone unsent. My brain fills in the worst possible version of it for a week straight.
